The Three Trees C of E Junior Academy was delighted to welcome Bishop Martyn to the school on Tuesday 21st November.
The Bishop was given a tour of the Junior Academy, he joined the children in collective worship where he led the school in prayer. Afterwards, members of the school's pupil parliament gathered to ask Bishop Martyn questions including what his role requires, and how did he become Bishop. The Bishop spoke about how he looks after ninety-seven Church of England schools within the Leicestershire diocese and shared a story with the children about his visit to Sandringham Palace to meet the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Following from this, Bishop Martyn took part in creating glass artwork inspired by the story of the Three Trees. He used glass beads to create a tree along with two pupils, this will be glazed and join other made by staff in the school hall.
The Three Trees Academies are made up of the Junior CE Academy and the Infant Academy, they both joined Rise Multi-Academy Trust on September 1st.
Mrs Jo Westaby, executive headteacher at the school commented “the children really enjoyed meeting Bishop Martyn and learning about what his role entails. It was lovely to have the opportunity to show him around the school and share the improvements made at the school since we joined Rise.”
