!EYFS New Starters

A very warm welcome to Three Trees Academies and the start of your child's school journey!
You should now have received an email from Derbyshire County Council confirming your child's place for September 2026. We are so pleased that you have chosen Three Trees Academies for your child and we are very excited to meet them. We strive to get to know each child as much as possible before they begin their school journey so that their transition to school is a smooth and supportive one. Our team of EYFS staff work with you to get to know your child and their individual needs through stay and play session and visit to their pre-school settings.
Soon you will be receiving a welcome pack from school which will outline key dates and what happens next! You can also find these listed in the link to the right of this page.
School Readiness
To help understand what children should be able to do before starting school in their reception class, here are the 10 key steps for unlocking school readiness:
- I can settle happily without my parent or carer.
- I can tell friends and grown-ups what I need.
- I can take turns and share when I am playing.
- I can go to the toilet on my own and wash my hands.
- I can put on my own coat and shoes and feed myself.
- I can tell a grown up if I am happy, sad or cross.
- I know that what I do and say can make others happy or unhappy.
- I am curious and want to learn and play.
- I can stop what I am doing, listen and follow simple instructions.
- I enjoy sharing books with grown-ups.
